I was on sick leave today
What do you think if you were on sick leave?
I made my status available for I was on sick leave after I had visited my family doctor. One of my friends sent me a MSN message: “You are so good that you are on leave.”
I was surprised.
In fact, I think going back to office for work is fun. I am not very happy that I need to stay at home doing nothing. I think my friend is not making fun during his work, so his mindset thinking people on sick leave are so good…

Ubuntu 9.04 on Laptop
Really great.
My laptop was originally installed with Windows XP SP3, however the speed is really slow. I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my Dell D420 with a WWAN 5520 Card. This really gives slow laptop a chance for reborn.
The most impressive thing is mobile broadband support. Right on the first boot after installation, the network editor asked for a few questions.

Within some points and clicks, I am connected with the 3.5G network!

Write more posts
In fact, I am not writing blog very often.
I am trying to start an idea to write more blog posts. The idea is to write 250 words every day, focus on information security and information system audit.
I hope these posts can able to publish at whitehat.williamlee.org blog. Every month, I will try to organise these posts into a monthly/bi-weekly information security and audit magazine.

HDTV
Yeah!!!
Finally my home got DMB-T/H signals. All 13 channels are now viewable from my PC. The tuner hardware is Hauppauge WinTV-DMB-TH-Stick (models 300).
It is now an ugrent task to make my Windows Media Center able to detect the signals. The poor thing is my Windows Media Center only able to detect 3 out of 13. Yet more poor, only audio, no video. It has no problem to use the same hardware on the same machine with come with application Cyberlink TV Enhance.

New Windows Media Center
The old one died... the cooling fan of the video card broken.
The new one is running 32-bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1. Also tried some features that I had never used before, like putting recordings onto DVDs.
The setup experience this time is pretty good, Vista SP1 automatically recognise my WinTV-Huppauge PVR-150 MCE and the USB IR receiver (for MCE remote "beanbag" in the kit). Everything is plug and play.

One Minute Management
Recently I attended the 2nd session of the leadership training organised by my company. The training was great, and the trainer done great presentations and other exercises with us.
He recommended two books to read. One of them is One Minute Manager. I found an online copy here. It is really worth to read with easy to understand concepts. I finished this reading exercise in a few hours and felt gained a lot on people handling.
I hope this helps everybody.

Hard Working Week
Hard working?
A week has 5 working days. 5 working days mean 40 working hours. However, in the first 4 calendar days of the week, I already worked 48 working hours.
That means, 6 working days in 4 calendar days.
Oh... I need some rest.

Old Photos
Today, I watched a lot of old photos I took since 2001.
This is basically a storage consolidation project. I had built a new computer that has 6 x 320GB disks formed a RAID 5 array. I had moved all information from all of my storage to this new storage array.
During the information move, I had a review for the photos I took. This restore a lot of my memory, like the 270 pounds view of myself, a lot of old friends and a lot of interesting moments.
